Jim and Joe have it in a nutshell in this post.
Posts like this one and yesterday's make me wonder just how in hell the Republicans have managed to convince a majority of Americans to vote against their own best interests for all these years.
If we don't take Jim and Joe's advice and take back both Houses of Congress next week, we can count on more of the same arrogant leadership from the Republicans. And we'll deserve it.
The odd thing is that you talk to some conservatives these days, and they bitch on endlessly about money wasted on things like libraries and millages for elderly programs ... but never once raise an angry voice about the money wasted in a war they got behind loudly and proudly back in 2003.

These guys are great and they're telling it straight up. I think a lot of people are talking the same way which makes me suspicious of the polling. But in the light of the reports rolling in already about problems with the touchscreen voting machines, I'm not sure the answer it only to vote. I think we have to make sure we don't let them steal it this time either, at least not without a fight.
Abi, I've wondered the same thing myself and decided it's because we're a soundbite nation. People just take at face value what they hear and don't bother to verify facts or dig further. Because of that, the GOP is successful at selling snake oil.
Eric, welcome, and your point is well-taken. I think it boils down to what I said above, the GOP is good at selling ideas - and they've convinced the conservatives that we need to fight them over there or we'll be fighting them here. That's a bunch of hooey of course.

Libby, I agree with you 100%. How sad that "we the people" can't even trust politicians not to steal the election. It makes me think the rewards they get from all that power must really be lucrative for them to stoop so low.
