McCain also pretends to care about working class Americans. Or, as this writer puts it: It Takes Real Chutzpah For A Guy Who Owns Eight Houses (McCain) To Call Barack Obama An "Elitist"
The McCain campaign is managed by a cadre of Washington-insider special interest lobbyists. He and his current wife are estimated to be worth about $100 million. He reportedly owns eight houses. His let-them-eat-cake economic policies are based on George Bush's failed radical conservative "you're on your own buddy" philosophy. One after another he supported trade agreements that protect the rights of corporations, but ignore the rights of labor, and have devastated one Pennsylvania community after another. He gets most of his campaign cash from the wealthiest corporate interests around. And he has the gall to call Barack Obama an "elitist"?The McCain campaign said of Obama, "It is hard to imagine someone running for president who is more out of touch with average Americans," but McCain is the guy who supports the Bush tax cuts, offers everyday Americans no solutions on the housing crisis, and thinks a return to trickle-down economics would be good for the country.
Talk about being out of touch. McCain is just more of the same. He's Romney, he's DeVos, and he's George (this is my base) Bush all rolled into one.

It's the height of hypocrisy for Senators to call anyone elitist. I think the vast majority of our so-called representatives in Congress - especially Senators - are out of touch with the way the rest of us live.
If there is a more elitist bunch of pampered, privileged Americans than the members of the United States Senate, I can't imagine who they would be.
Another good argument for term limits.
I've been a stranger from Stone Soup for a while and I like the new feel. You nailed it here, Kathy and Abi, I could not agree more with your assessment. They are ALL elitists and not one that I can name has a clue about how real America lives. I just posted on Jackie Speiers election to the House today but as much as I like her policies, she is from the most expensive and exclusive town and neighborhood in the San Francisco area. We'll see what happens.
Abi, hypocrisy is right. Trent Lott recently joked to the media that he would have to start paying for his own lunches for the first time in 30 years now that he works in the private sector as a lobbyist. Obama probably comes from the most humble beginnings compared to the rest of them, but people like him are an anomaly in Washington these days.
Expat, glad you like the new template. I stopped over and read about Speiers and liked what I learned about her. The fact that she wants to go after Big Pharma ad dollars won her over with me. They could be using all the money to do something better - like find a cure for cancer, Parkinson, ALS or any other number of diseases.
The only time McCavein's not "out of touch" is when he's either putting the touch on a lobbyist for some campaign cash, or putting the touch on a lobbyist.
The only people who believe McCain is a moderate are the same ones who believe eight years of Republican rule have left this nation's economy in great shape.
How can anyone with the least bit of senility not be aware that McCain is a war loving corporate shill, who drinks from the blood of the less fortunate, while toasting the lifeless bodies of those who fought his war.
